I know South Africa won, but I just had to put this out there, that this game's officiating was one of the worst cases of incompetence that I've seen in quite some time. Matthew Carley, the TMO and the 2 assistant referees combined together, to give one of the worst officiating performances of recently memory. The amount of crucial mistakes they made was shocking for international standard.

21 of the points the All Blacks scored was directly from mistakes the officiating team made. That is horrendous, and should never ever happen in any game, let alone an international game between the top 2 teams in the world.

Then there is the tackle in the end, where Steyn destroys McKenzie and steals the ball in mid tackle, yet the ref blows him for not rolling away. Steyn was the ball carrier and McKenzie should've rolled away. Yet he blows the penalty against SA which almost cost them the game.

I can go on and on about his horrific offside calls, and how he never called the AB's for cleaning at the rucks from the side, despite it happening right in front of his eyes.

The reason I'm so angry about this, is because the springboks played one of their best games in recent memory and dominated the AB"s at every facet. Nobody expected that, I did not see that happening. All that effort would've been for nothing had they lost this game. The refs managed to almost screw up one of the Springboks best performances.

World Rugby needs to take responsibility and that whole officiating crew should suffer the consequences for that atrocious performance. If the Springboks lost that game, they would've suffered the wrath of media for they playstyle and lack of wins during the Rugby Championship. Why are Officiating crews allowed to get away with these types of performances?

So Dear World Rugby, take responsibility and let them suffer the same consequences that players and coaches do when they perform badly. Stop with this special treatment BS

EDIT:

I got the 50/22 rule wrong. I took it as how they announced it when it got released through media. However, on World Rugby's website they do indicate that you can't pass the ball back into your 50m to use the rule. it has to start from inside your own 50. so I was wrong. I just want to make clear that I'm still 100% confident in everything else I posted. it was still one of the worst officiating performances that I've seen Rugby Analysis: Springboks vs All Blacks 2021| Dear World Rugby...WTF!
